SAMUEL WILLIAMS, PhD, RP, CSFT

MISSION

As a Registered Psychotherapist and a Certified Solution-Focused Therapist, my mission is to create a safe space for hope, healing and wellness. This compels me to provide counselling and psychotherapy to people from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life. I offer my services in both English and Tamil.

TRAINING

I hold a PhD in human relationships with a focus in spiritual care and psychotherapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. I also hold two master’s degrees in theology and a bachelor’s degree in business administration. I have completed extensive post graduate training in psychotherapy and stay current with professional skills and research through ongoing continuing education.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Based on 20+ years of training and working with individuals, couples and families in church, agency, hospital and private practice settings and drawing from my personal experience as son, husband and father, my approach is person centred, culturally sensitive, trauma informed, anti-oppressive and non-judgemental.

My practice is primarily informed by evidence-based and strength-based frameworks such as emotionally focused therapy, solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy and psycho-spiritual therapy.

COMMITMENT

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists for Ontario (CRPO) and I hold myself accountable to its Code of Ethics. A therapist’s ability to be fully in the moment with a client is the basis for effective therapy. I maintain an ongoing commitment to developing my skills and professionalism to do my work well.

Yonge Street Mission

Founded in 1896, Yonge Street Mission encourages and guides street-involved youth, low-income families and socially isolated adults and seniors by responding to their needs and offering vital food, counselling, housing and employment support with an aim to help them rise out of poverty.
